Refugees from Afghanistan cross the Uzbek-Afghan border where it runs in the middle of the Amu Darya, on rafts made from water bottles. This was announced on Wednesday by a TASS correspondent from a source in Termez.
According to him, in recent days, several groups of Afghan refugees unauthorizedly crossed into the territory of Uzbekistan in the Termez region, while specialists were surprised how armed men in uniform swam across the Amu Darya.
“As it turned out, the resourceful Afghans used improvised rafts from empty water bottles from under the water to cross a sufficiently deep river with a fast current, which are capable of holding a solid load on the surface of the water,” the source explained.
He added that such a cheap, practically weightless, silent and reliable floating craft is very easy to fly.
