Air Astana cancels resumption of flights to Minsk due to commercial reasons
Kazakhstan’s Air Astana said it had cancelled the launch of flights from the country’s second-biggest city of Almaty to Belarus capital Minsk, which was scheduled to resume operations on May 31, 2021.
The air company said that the decision was made on May 20 due to low commercial load and passengers had been notified of the cancellation of flights on the same day.
Several countries cancelled flights to Minsk and the European Union made a determined effort to take a serious stand on punishing Belarus with new sanctions after a commercial flight was diverted to Minsk and a dissident journalist on board was arrested on May 23.
