Electricity production in Azerbaijan in January-May 2021 increased by 2% compared to the same period last year – up to 10 billion 226.3 million kWh, TURAN reported.
According to the State Statistics Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the volume of commercial electricity production in the reporting period amounted to 9 billion 907.2 million kWh (an increase of 2.1%).
In January-May 2021, thermal power plants in Azerbaijan produced 9 billion 206.8 million kWh (an increase of 1.1%), at hydroelectric power plants (HPPs), the generation amounted to 642.9 million kWh (an increase of 19.8 %).
The share of thermal power plants accounted for 92.9% of the generated marketable electricity in the country, and the share of hydroelectric power plants – 6.5%, another 0.6% of the generation fell on the share from alternative sources.
In the reporting period, wind power plants generated 37.9 million kWh (a decline of 14.1%), solar – 19.6 million kWh (an increase of 12%).
