Armenia has a chance to play the role of an intermediary between the financial systems of Russia and third countries due to the situation that has arisen due to the anti-Russian economic sanctions of the West. This opinion was expressed by Deputy Chairman of the Central Bank of the Republic of Armenia Hovhannes Khachatryan in an interview with the Public Television of Armenia.
“Some prerequisites for this are already visible at the level of initiatives, projects. In financial terms, the interaction of the Armenian and Russian financial systems with third countries has always existed, and it may become more active,” Khachatryan believes.
At the same time, he stressed that a rather strict system of control over money laundering and checking the clientele has been established in Armenia.
