Armenia plans to soon join the “Persian Gulf-Black Sea” transport corridor, which Iran and India are interested in promoting. This was announced on Wednesday at a joint press conference of Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan with his Indian counterpart Subramanjam Jaishankar in Yerevan.
“Regarding the Persian Gulf-Black Sea initiative, we discussed this issue with the Iranian side yesterday. I can say that events around this issue are developing quite dynamically and I hope that soon we will sign an agreement around this project,” Mirzoyan said …
Participation in the “Persian Gulf-Black Sea” project, in addition to the “North-South” corridor, will allow Armenia to diversify cargo transportation routes, use ports in Iran and become an important transit hub.
According to Mirzoyan, issues of infrastructures in a large region were discussed with Jaishankar, in particular, the latest positive developments around the port of Jawahar in Iran.
