Armenia is negotiating the return of a group of Armenian hostages from Azerbaijan. This was stated by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan, answering the questions of the deputies in the Parliament.
The Minister noted that the issue of Armenian prisoners of war was discussed, including at the meeting of the leaders of Armenia and Azerbaijan Nikol Pashinyan and Ilham Aliyev in Brussels, and there is an idea that another group of Armenian hostages should be released.
“We are now continuing negotiations,” he said.
Mirzoyan noted that Azerbaijan has still not fulfilled its commitments made in the framework of the tripartite statement of November 9, 2020: to release all prisoners of war, hostages and other detainees. The Foreign Minister said that today Azerbaijan is trying to link the problem of the return of prisoners of war with the search for those missing in the first Karabakh war.
