The Russian military operation in Ukraine is of great concern, but in addition to the problems, there are also certain opportunities. This was stated by the Minister of Economy of Armenia Vahan Kerobyan.
“This situation, of course, causes more concern, primarily from a humanitarian point of view. Both countries are our major trading partners. Sanctions against Russia, our largest trading partner, could have serious economic consequences that will certainly affect us. However, as I think, in addition to problems, there are also opportunities,” he said in an interview with ARKA.
For example, according to him, countries that have plans to join the EAEU can do this through Armenia, and not Russia.
“In addition, Russian companies can access international markets through Armenia, and not directly, which is no longer possible,” he explained.
At the same time, the head of the Ministry of Economy added that Armenia, “of course, does not try to fish in troubled waters.”
