As a result of an explosion in the Tkibuli coal mine on the night of January 30-31, one miner was killed and eight more were injured.

The victims were taken first to the Tkibuli hospital, and then in the morning to the Khechinashvili clinic in Tbilisi.

The head of the Burn Center, Guga Kashibadze, told the Mtavari Arkhi TV channel that the victims received various injuries, most likely as a result of a methane explosion.

“Three of them were placed in the intensive care unit of the Burn Center, the condition of one of them is very serious. The remaining patients – 5 people – are placed in the Surgical Department of the Burn Center. In addition to burns, they have traumatic injuries and fractures in various places,” Kashibadze said.
