Air travel in Azerbaijan cost an average of 29.2 percent more in February than a year earlier, as airlines try and make up for losses from COVID-19, Turan reported, citing the State Statistics Committee.
According to official estimates, air travel has been increasing in price since the beginning of last year. In January-February 2020, the average cost of air tickets increased by 6.3 percent, and over the same period this year by 27.7%.
Azerbaijani airlines, taking into account the internal flight connection Baku-Nakhchivan-Baku, carried 59,300 passengers in the first two months of the year, 82.6 percent less than a year earlier. CJSC Azerbaijan Airlines accounts for 98.8 percent of traffic. Private airline ASG Business Aviation owns 1.2% of the passenger transportation portfolio.
