Azerbaijan increased the export of oil products by 0.7% year-on-year to 225,616 tonnes in the first quarter of 2021, the State Customs Committee said.
In nominal terms export of oil products amounted to $91.2 million as of April 1, 3.6 percent more than a year ago.
Exports of oil products in the first three months of this year accounted for 2.2 percent of total exports from Azerbaijan, the committee said.
In 2020, Azerbaijan exported 1.063 million tonnes of oil products for $295.1 million.
Exports of refined and petrochemical products rose by 25 percent year-on-year to 668,581 tonnes in the first quarter, the State energy firm SOCAR said.
“Growth of 25 percent was achieved mainly due to the export of diesel fuel, bitumen, coke, lubricants and petrochemical products,” the company said in a statement.
In 2020, SOCAR exported 2.409 million tonnes of refined and petrochemical products.
Azerbaijan reduced production of gasoline by 28 percent year-on-year to 247,400 tonnes, jet fuel by 29.4 percent to 103,500 tonnes and diesel fuel by 1.7 percent to 550,500 tonnes in the first quarter of 2021.
The production of naphta increased by 64.9 percent to 108,000 tonnes.
In monetary terms, the total output of oil products decreased by 13 percent year-on-year to 810 million manats ($477 million).
Azerbaijan reduced oil and gas condensate production by 5.2 percent year-on-year to 8.816 million tonnes in the first quarter of 2021.
Natural gas production rose 5.7 percent to 10.563 billion cubic metres (bcm).
In 2020, Azerbaijan produced 34.585 million tonnes of oil and gas condensate, while natural gas output was 36.713 bcm.
Crude is processed at the Baku Oil Refinery, which produces 15 different petroleum products, including gasoline, aviation kerosene, diesel fuel, naphta, petroleum coke, and others. The sole refinery in the oil-rich country meets the nation’s entire demand for petroleum products and exports 45 percent of its petroleum products.
According to the statistics committee, 36,000 tonnes of gasoline, 2,000 tonnes of naphta, 40,900 tonnes of jet fuel, 106,000 tonnes of diesel fuel, 10,400 tonnes of fuel oil, and some other products had been stocked in the refinery’s warehouses as of April 1.
