Azerbaijan’s private cargo operator, Silk Way West Airlines, is set to purchase five Boeing 777 Freighters, the company said.
The aircraft will enable the airline to increase its capacity to meet the growing demand for cargo transportation around the world, it said in a statement, adding that the agreement on the purchase with Boeing had been reached.
Silk Way West Airlines began operations in Azerbaijan in June 2012. The company operates about 250 scheduled and charter flights a month to more than 50 destinations in Europe, Asia, North America and South America.
The airline’s fleet consists of 12 Boeing 747-400F and Boeing 747-8F aircraft equipped with the most modern security systems. In 2016, Boeing ranked Silk Way West as the fastest growing airline in terms of fleet numbers, geographic coverage and cargo volume.
