Belarus attaches great importance to the issues of safety and reliability of the BelNPP. This was stated by the head of the IAEA expert group Joseph Sandoval (USA), BelTA learned from the press service of the Ministry of Energy.
On July 1, the IAEA expert group on physical protection of nuclear facilities (IPPAS mission) completed work at the BelNPP site. The specialists got acquainted with the materials on the functioning of the physical protection system of the nuclear power plant, visited its facilities. The experts will summarize the preliminary results of the visit by the end of their mission in Belarus – on July 9.
After finishing work at the nuclear power plant, the head of the expert group Joseph Sandoval shared his impressions of the visit to the BelNPP. “I am very impressed with the importance that the Belarusian government attaches to the safety and reliability of the nuclear power plant. Our role is to compare and assess the practices applied in Belarus against the existing international agreements and then provide the government with our recommendations,” he said.
