Belarus temporarily bans grain exports due to poor harvest
Belarus has introduced and a temporary ban on grain exports for six months due to a smaller-than-usual harvest due to hot, dry weather.
The temporary ban was established on the export of wheat, rye, barley, oats, corn, buckwheat, millet, triticale, other cereals, as well as rapeseeds.
The ban includes exports into the countries of the Russia-led Eurasian Economic Union but doesn’t apply to goods exported to states for the provision of international humanitarian assistance.
The country has completed the 2021 harvest, threshing 6.2 million tonnes of grain compared with 7.2 million tonnes in 2020, Reuters reported.
In July, the country banned the export of buckwheat and wheat flour for three months.
