Capital investment in Azerbaijan’s economy decreased by 2.1 percent year-on-year to 1.340 billion manats ($788 million) in January-February, the State Statistics Committee said.
Investments decreased by 11.2 percent in the oil and gas sector and rose by 12.1 percent in the non-oil sector in the first two months of this year.
Over 73 percent of total investments, 984 million manats, had been used for production purposes, while the rest was used for construction. Over 58 percent of total investments, 779.5 million manats, were domestic funds, around 42 percent – foreign direct investments.
In 2021, capital investment decreased by 8.2 percent year-on-year to 16.127 billion manats due to restrictions imposed to curb the spread of the COVID-19.
