The press service of the Main Department of Internal Affairs of Bishkek told the journalist of Kloop that criminal cases were opened against the journalist Bolot Taemirov under the articles “Forgery of documents” and “Illegal crossing of the state border of Kyrgyzstan”.
According to the police, new criminal cases against Temirov were opened while investigating another criminal case under the article “Illegal production of drugs”.
According to investigators, the journalist received a Russian passport at the age of 16, and then exchanged it in 2002, 2007 and 2014. Referring to information from Russian government agencies, they said that Temirov’s Russian passport was valid.
The Central Internal Affairs Directorate stated that Temirov, having a passport of a Russian citizen, was in collusion with an official of the passport department and, in order to illegally obtain a passport of a citizen of Kyrgyzstan, in July 2008 violated the procedure for obtaining a passport of Kyrgyzstan.
