Kyrgyzstan and gold mining company Centerra Gold Inc. April 4 will sign a settlement agreement. This was announced by President Sadyr Japarov at the republican meeting of social workers.
According to him, the agreement will be signed via videoconference at 18:30 live.
“We are quietly ‘divorcing’ without any legal proceedings. [The issue] is decided in our favor. We have Kumtor and over 30 other gold deposits. We have created a holding company called Heritage of Nomads to develop all these deposits. We are raising salaries [for social workers] because we believe in the development of gold mines like Kumtor,” Zhaparov said.
The press service of the president reported that at 18:30 on April 4, Sadyr Japarov will make an “important appeal to the people of the country” on the air of the OTRK, republican and regional TV channels. What exactly the President will talk about is not explained.
