Journalist, popular video blogger and documentary filmmaker Yuri Dud, political scientist Yekaterina Shulman, editor-in-chief of The Insider Roman Dobrokhotov, and cartoonist Sergei Elkin, collaborating with Radio Liberty, are included in the register of media-“foreign agents” by the Ministry of Justice of Russia.
The register also includes journalist Karen Shainyan, head of the psychological service of the Russian LGBT Network Maria Sabunaeva, feminist and LGBT activist Regina Dzugkoeva, journalists Alexei Semyonov and Kirill Kruglikov who collaborate with Sever.Realii.
The register now includes 142 legal entities and citizens of Russia, recognized by the media as “foreign agents.” Inclusion in the registry imposes a number of requirements on a person, including financial reporting, as well as the obligation to mark all his posts in social networks with a special disclaimer. Violation is subject to administrative and then criminal liability.
