This was stated at a briefing by Energy Minister Herman Galushchenko, Ukrinform correspondent reports.
“There is a significant increase in electricity consumption. Compared to the previous heating season, electricity consumption has increased by about 6%,” Galushchenko said.
At the same time, natural gas consumption decreased by approximately 5-6%.
According to Galushchenko, currently the main load in the energy system is borne by nuclear generation – in 2021 its share in the energy balance increased to 55% compared to 51% in 2020. Thermal generation takes about 29-30%, hydrogeneration – about 7-8% in the balance.
“Nuclear generation has a reserve of more than 1,000 MW, thermal generation – about 500 MW, hydropower – about 2,000 MW. That is, the power reserve in the power system is available,” said the Minister.
