Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that he had discussed with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin the supply of the Sputnik V coronavirus vaccine. They agreed that a joint production of the drug will begin in the republic, RIA Novosti reports.
He said that a large amount of medicine will be supplied to Turkey. After that, it is planned to establish the creation of a vaccine at enterprises in the country, the news agency said.
“We had negotiations with Putin about the Russian Sputnik V vaccine, we will receive it in a very serious volume. Then we will start its joint production in Turkey,” Erdogan told reporters.
The day before, the Kremlin reported that Putin had a telephone conversation with his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan. The leaders of the states discussed the Nagorno-Karabakh settlement, including the work of the Russian-Turkish ceasefire control center, as well as the fight against coronavirus.
Putin expressed his readiness to step up practical cooperation in the supply of the Russian Sputnik V vaccine. Erdogan thanked Russia for its assistance.
