In the second half of 2022, a world-class Silk Road Samarkand resort with a medical and business cluster will open in Samarkand. In an interview with the Association of Tour Operators of Russia, Artem Yegikyan, general director of the resort management company, spoke about what the complex will offer to tourists and how it will change their idea of holidays in Uzbekistan .
– Artem, how was the idea of creating a luxury hotel complex with a medical cluster in Uzbekistan born and why was Samarkand chosen to implement it?
I note that Uzbekistan has been actively developing the tourism sector since 2019, when the President of the country signed a decree “On measures to further develop the tourism sector.”
The government of Uzbekistan is now providing investors and travel companies with favorable conditions for the construction of hotels and the launch of flights. There is an active development of transport infrastructure, work on the improvement of cities, the range of trade services is expanding, in general, service for tourists is improving. For example, a year ago it was problematic to pay with a Visa card even in Tashkent, now there are no difficulties with this.
