The fifth package of EU sanctions expanded the ban for European companies on the supply of equipment for oil refining and the production of liquefied natural gas (LNG) to Russia, TASS reports, citing a resolution of the EU Council. We are talking about gas cooling and liquefaction systems, units for separating hydrocarbons into fractions, as well as a wide range of chemical equipment.
“It is forbidden to sell, transfer or facilitate the acquisition, directly or indirectly, of products and technologies that are used for oil refining and the production of liquefied natural gas, to any individual or legal entity, company or organisation in Russia or for use on the territory of the Russian Federation,” — says in the ruling.
For the first time, the European Union imposed sanctions on the supply of equipment for oil production in the polar latitudes and on the shelf to Russia in 2014.
