The Kuntsevsky District Court of Moscow arrested the Chechen MMA fighter Salman Zhamaldaev until January 6 in the case of illegal possession and transportation of narcotic drugs (part 2 of article 228 of the Criminal Code). This was reported by “RBC Sport” with reference to the press service of the court.
Zhamaldaev was detained on November 8 at the Vnukovo airport when he was about to fly to Grozny. According to the publication “Kavkaz.Realii”, law enforcement officers found 10 g of drugs in the athlete. A fighter under the article on illegal transportation of narcotic drugs may face imprisonment of up to 10 years and a fine of up to 500 thousand rubles.
Zhamaldaev is a former featherweight champion under the auspices of the Russian organizations WFCA and ACB, a fighter of the Chechen club “Akhmat”.
