Georgian Foreign Minister David Zalkaliani has announced that tomorrow a Georgian delegation headed by Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili will leave for Brussels to participate in the Eastern Partnership (EaP) summit on December 15, calling it an ‘extremely important event’ to bring Georgia closer to the European Union (EU).
Zalkaliani also talked about expectations Georgia has regarding this event and noted that the progress made by the country during the last 12 years since the establishment of the Eastern Partnership will be reflected in an upcoming declaration.
“I am confident that the declaration which will be adopted on December 15 will match up to our expectations, in particular our EU aspirations and EU choices, as well as reaffirming the EU’s greater involvement in conflict resolution and reaffirming our country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity,” Zalkaliani stated.
He also pledged that Georgia will be involved in EU programmes and agencies ‘as much as possible’ in order to ensure the country’s integration into the EU, noting that in this regard Georgia has made ‘very serious progress.’
