Russian Ambassador to Paris Alexei Meshkov was summoned to the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs in connection with the Kremlin’s sanctions against European officials., News.ru reported, citing RIA Novosti report.
The diplomat also expressed concern over measures to restrict the hiring of employees in diplomatic missions.
“We strongly condemn the measures announced on Friday, April 30, by the Russian authorities against a number of European officials,” stated a representative of the French Foreign Ministry, News.ru reported.
He stressed that such actions by Moscow “are unlikely to lead to a reduction in current tensions,” in connection with which Paris expects the Kremlin to “behave responsibly” and make efforts to reduce tensions.
