According to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, Davit Zalkaliani, if former President Mikheil Saakashvili interferes in the self-government elections, it will again become a topic of discussion with Ukrainian partners. Zalkaliani told journalists about it in response to a question.
As the Minister noted, the ambassador to Ukraine who had been summoned due to Saakashvili, has already returned to the work process and he was attending the meetings with the delegation of the Prime Minister of Ukraine today. According to Zalkaliani, it is important that Ukraine, as a strategic partner and friendly country, respects the Georgian legislation.
“The ambassador returned to Kiev and began to exercise his powers. Now he is with the delegation and he attended the meetings. Our Ukrainian partners are well aware of our position on this issue. It is very important for us, when we are strategic partners, to respect each other’s statehood and laws. When there is interference in the activities of another country, including violation of election law, it was certainly unacceptable.
