Georgia’s trade deficit at $1.9 bln in January-May-Statistics Office
Georgia’s trade deficit was $1.943 billion in the first five months of 2021 compared with $1.735 billion in the same period in 2020 and $1.531 billion in January-April this year, the National Statistics Office said.
The country’s trade turnover totalled $5.019 billion, 18.2 percent more than in the first five months of 2020. In January-April 2021 the trade turnover was $3.929 billion.
Exports equalled $1.538 billion, 24.4 percent up from January-May 2020, while imports stood at $3.481 billion, 15.7 percent more than in the same period last year.
The country’s trade deficit in 2020 was $818.6 million, up from $790 million in 2019.
