Several dozen couriers of the Glovo service in Almaty went on strike on Wednesday and are trying to start negotiations with the company, VLAST.KZ reported.
Up to 50 couriers first arrived at the office where the operations managers are located, but they refused to enter into negotiations with the strikers. After that, the couriers went to a meeting with the management of the Glovo office in Kazakhstan at the Nurly Tau complex.
By this time, there are up to 50 strikers here, while couriers continue to arrive. The security guards of the building where the company’s office is located refused to let them into the building, saying that within 15 minutes, Glovo leaders would go down to the couriers.
The striking couriers put forward a list of 23 demands to the leadership (the couriers handed it over to the authorities). In it, in particular, the requirement to introduce a base payment, to change the system of bonuses, including for work in bad weather, to improve the ordering system, to determine the maximum delivery sizes and others.
A PR agency serving Glovo in Kazakhstan later circulated a press release describing a meeting of operational managers with couriers. It was called “a meeting to discuss with company representatives the conditions for connecting to the platform, route optimization, bonuses and surcharges, and other issues.”
The message separately analyzes some of the couriers’ requirements and indicates that some of them have already been satisfied, while others can be satisfied gradually.
At the same time, it is indicated that agreement with the payment system and billing “is negotiated in advance at onboarding sessions, partners sign an agreement upon connection.” “In case of disagreement with the system and tariffication, the partner has the right to choose cooperation with another company,” the message says.
