“We clearly know that the attackers tried to carry out a coup d’état and the question arises: why did they go for it? The answer is obvious: in recent years, we have moved on to a radical modernization and transformation of Kazakhstan. Large-scale transformations have begun in various areas. Some influential people did not like this, and they wanted to continue their illegal actions in the future, they tried to seize power. And so hardened criminals, armed gangs and traitorous officials created an underground group. Our external and internal enemies, having agreed, wanted to seize power,” Tokayev said.

The President emphasized that this group directed the discontent of the population and incited the people. Terrorists attacked government agencies, strategic facilities and business facilities, shot at civilians in order to denigrate the authorities.
