In Washington, the Ambassador of Uzbekistan to the United States, Javlon Vakhabov, met with Melisa Esposti, director of the Project CURE charity organization for work with foreign governments, Dunyo news agency reported.
At this meeting, the issue of implementation of the previously reached agreement on sending humanitarian aid worth $ 3 million to the Republic of Karakalpakstan was discussed. Melisa Esposti informed the Uzbek side that at the moment 4 out of 10 containers with humanitarian aid are already ready for shipment, and it is expected that the cargo will be in Karakalpakstan in December.
The director of Project CURE said her organization took a long time to raise money and the necessary equipment – it took almost two years. And she called the present moment the best for sending the cargo, because in the multimillion-dollar region of the Aral Sea region there are 24 medical institutions in which there is an acute shortage of medical equipment and equipment, and it is they who will receive, first of all, the cargo formed by Project CURE.
