In several settlements of the Kyzylorda, Turkestan and East Kazakhstan regions, as well as Shymkent, residents are cut off electricity during the day, Channel 31 reports.
Even in schools, the lights are turned off without warning. Kyzylorda electricity suppliers stated that the main reason for the unplanned restrictions is the failure of the Moinak hydroelectric power station. Because of this, now in the southern regions, on average, there is not enough about 200 MW of electricity. Restrictions have been introduced in more than 60 settlements and 11 microdistricts of the region, from 7.00 to 11.00 and from 17.00 to 23.00.
“We did not plan to restrict the city. There is a Zhambyl power plant where you can get electricity. But its price is too high. We will discuss this and try to provide electricity,” said Mukhitzhan Karimbaev, head of the Kyzylorda Electricity Distribution Company JSC.
