In the Black Sea town of Kobuleti, owners of family-type hotels held the fourth protest action. Demonstrators are demanding government assistance due to yet another failed tourist season. Adjara TV reports.
Today, protesters gathered outside the city hall of the municipality. Insisting on meeting with the mayor, they broke into the building. All this was accompanied by noise and clashes with the guards. The police had to be called to the place.
Hotel owners are asking the government to cooperate with the banking sector and start a loan subsidy program or declare a moratorium on payments until the epidemiological situation in the country stabilizes.
According to them, it is the coronavirus pandemic that has been causing the bad tourist season for two years in a row. Residents of Kobuleti, for whom the accommodation of vacationers is the only source of income, say that now they cannot fulfill their banking obligations.
