In Ukraine, the transitional period of renewal of the procurement process and development of new cooking technologies in schools ended on January 1. At present, school nutrition reform must be fully operational.
This was reported in the State Food and Consumer Service.
In particular, now all schools are obliged to reduce the amount of sugar in the menu by 2-2.5 times, increase the amount of fruit to 100 g and reduce the amount of bread per meal. And also increase the amount of poultry and dairy products in the diet of schoolchildren.
Approximately 75% of food in canteens should be of plant origin: vegetables, salads, cereals, fruits and berries.
However, it is forbidden to sell sweet bakery products, carbonated drinks, unpasteurized juices and dairy products, coffee and products with high sugar or salt content, preservatives, dyes and flavors in school cafeterias.
As UNIAN reported, on July 28, 2021, the Cabinet of Ministers approved changes in food standards in educational institutions in order to increase the nutritional value of the diet.
On August 18, 2021, the Cabinet of Ministers decided to establish a transitional period for the introduction of nutrition in educational and children’s health and recreation facilities, as well as a moratorium on the application of penalties based on the results of inspections conducted before January 1.
