Scientists of the Scientific Research Institute for Biological Safety Problems (NIIPBB) of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan have developed 5 vaccines against coronavirus infection, according to the official website of the Ministry of Education and Science of Kazakhstan.
The most famous among domestic vaccines against CVI is the inactivated QazVac vaccine, the effectiveness of which has been proven by clinical studies, the Ministry of Education and Science noted.
In addition, RIIPB scientists have developed 1 subunit, 2 recombinant and 1 live vaccines.
Director General of the Research Institute Professor Kunsulu Zakarya spoke about the work on the vaccines.
“During the pandemic, we began developing several candidate coronavirus vaccines on five platforms at once. These are the inactivated QazVac vaccine, the QazCOVAC-P subunit vaccine based on the virus protein, two recombinant vaccines and one live vaccine. The QazCOVAC-P subunit vaccine is undergoing clinical trials. the phase of studies on 44 volunteers has been completed, now the second phase of clinical trials on 200 volunteers is underway,” she said.
