The Kazakh power grid operating company KEGOC accused Uzbekistan of the blackout. According to the Kazakh side, the cause of the incident was a short circuit, as a result of which six power units at the Syrdarya TPP were turned off at once, Podrobno.uz correspondent reports.
“On January 25 at 11:59 Nur-Sultan time in Uzbekistan, due to a short circuit, 6 power units at the Syrdarya TPP were switched off with a total loss of generation of more than 1,500 MW. parallel operation with the energy systems of Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan. As a result, there was a “surge” of power for the 500 kV transit “North-East-South of Kazakhstan” with its subsequent overload,” KEGOC said in an official statement.
