Kazakhstan ratified an agreement with Russia on cooperation in the implementation of launches from Baikonur-VLAST.KZ

Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev signed the law “On the ratification of the Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Government of the Russian Federation on cooperation in the implementation of launches from the Baikonur cosmodrome of carrier rockets of the Soyuz-2 type for launching spacecraft in a northern direction to circumpolar orbits”, VLAST.KZ reported citing the Akorda website.
The agreement regulates the procedure for the use by the Russian side of the crash area of separating parts of Soyuz-2 launch vehicles in the Kostanay region when launching spacecraft from the Baikonur cosmodrome for the implementation of the large international project OneWeb. The project is aimed at providing broadband Internet access, which will increase the load on the Baikonur cosmodrome with commercial launches. The fee for using the area of the fall will be US $ 460 thousand per year, taking into account launches no more than three times, and in the case of additional launches, the payment is made in the amount of US $ 50 thousand for each additional launch.
In accordance with the terms of the agreement, the organization operating the area of the fall – JSC “Joint Kazakhstan-Russian Enterprise“ Baiterek ”, at the expense of the organization making the launches, will provide notification of the upcoming launch, temporarily close and evacuate the population of the area of the fall, as well as accompany the launches assessment of the ecological state of the environment.
