Kazakhstan to raise minimum wage to 60,000 tenge ($141) from January 1, 2022
Kazakhstan will increase the minimum wage in the Central Asian country to 60,000 tenge ($141) from 42,500 tenge from January 1, 2022.
The decision was made by Kazakhstan’s President Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev.
“This measure will affect more than one million people, and indirectly – all workers. It will reduce the shadow wage fund, the size of which today reaches 30 and maybe 40 percent of the declared,” Tokayev said.
He added that the rise would also lead to an increase in Gross Domestic Product by 1.5 percent.
