On January 18, the press service of the Cabinet of Ministers reported that the external manager of Kumtor Gold Company Tengiz Bolturuk reported to the ministers on the work of the mine for 2021.
According to Bolturuk, over the past year, while the mine was under external management, Kumtor produced 14.5 tons of gold. The company also transferred taxes and mandatory payments for 13.6 billion soms, while the plan was 9 billion soms.
Revenue from the sale of gold for 2021 amounted to $856 million, of which $621 million worth of gold was sold while the mine is under external management.
In addition, according to the head of the Cabinet Akylbek Zhaparov, the cost per ounce of gold has also been reduced by more than 16%. Zhaparov believes that this indicates the effective economic management of external management compared to the previous management of the company, which was handled by the Canadian Centerra Gold Inc.
