China agreed to study the issue of importing electricity from Kyrgyzstan. Erbol Sultanbayev, press secretary of President Sadyr Japarov, confirmed this information to Kloop.
“Kyrgyzstan offered to export electricity to China. The Chinese side agreed to study this issue. In case of a positive decision, this will open the way for increasing capacities and attracting additional investments in the construction of hydroelectric power plants in Kyrgyzstan,” Sultanbaev said.
It was not immediately known that the Kyrgyz side offered to export electricity to China.
On February 7, a number of documents signed following the meeting between President Sadyr Japarov and Chinese President Xi Jinping were published on the website of the presidential administration . However, the export of electricity was not mentioned there.
