In April, Kyrgyzstan will begin construction of several small hydropower plants. This was announced at a press conference by the head of the Cabinet Akylbek Zhaparov.
He noted that the energy industry gives the country a huge export potential. “During this year, we realized what kind of wealth we have in our hands,” said Akylbek Zhaparov.
The head of the Cabinet of Ministers said that this year the first stage of construction of Kambar-Ata-1 will begin.
“We found $18.8 million for infrastructure construction. We will start work from April this year. In May next year, we will launch the second unit. The presidents of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Kazakhstan Kassym-Joomart Tokayev are showing interest in the construction of Kambar-Ata-1. Negotiations will determine who will participate and how,” said Akylbek Zhaparov.
