The Union of Journalists of Kazakhstan and the Adil Soz International Foundation for the Protection of Freedom of Speech addressed the Speakers of Parliament and the Minister of Information and Social Development with an open letter calling for the abolition of new rules for journalists that restrict their work.
As noted in the letter, the deputies of the Mazhilis and the Senate considered that “it would be very cultured” if journalists could not show the public how people’s deputies behave during meetings – now filming in the meeting room is only possible for 10 minutes; to interview individually – from now on, only all together behind a red ribbon with a single microphone; run after the deputies, guard them at the elevators and in the buffets to get the necessary information.
In addition, the letter notes, the press centre was moved to the basement, where there is no mobile connection and there are not enough jobs.
