An activist of the Popular Front Party of Azerbaijan (PFPA), Niyameddin Ahmedov, who was imprisoned, went on a hunger strike, after which he was imprisoned in a punishment cell.
This was reported to Turan by the PFPA.
Akhmedov was recently transferred from the pre-trial detention center to Colony No. 12 following the decision of the Court of Appeal against him.
Here he was discriminated against, the party said.
“The quality of food in the colony is very low, and food is not given in a timely manner. Many prisoners cook on an electric stove using food delivered from home. When Akhmedov asked for a refrigerator for food storage and an electric stove for cooking, they demanded a lot of money from him. As a sign of protest, Akhmedov went on a hunger strike on March 23 and wrote a statement about it. Immediately after that, he was put in a punishment cell,” the PFPA said.
