In the Baltic Sea carried out welding of the last trumpet “Nord Stream 2” pipe laid on the seabed, according to a report of the project operator Nord Stream 2 AG.
“On September 6, specialists of the Fortuna pipe-laying barge welded the last pipe of the second string of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline, after which pipe No. 200 858 will be submerged to the bottom of the Baltic Sea in German waters,” it was reported. In the future, the gas pipeline section extending from the coast of Germany will be docked with the section extending from the Danish waters.
As the company notes, further commissioning work on the second string will take place to put the pipeline into operation by the end of 2021.
“Nord Stream 2 will contribute to meeting the long-term needs of the EU energy market for natural gas imports, ensuring reliable and safe supplies on reasonable economic terms”, emphasizes Nord Stream 2 AG.
