Nigeria has announced its intention to supply gas to Europe through its own pipeline, thereby challenging Russia’s Nord Stream 2, UNIAN reported, citing Premium Times.
It is a continuation of the currently under construction AKK (Ajaokuta-Kaduna-Kano) gas pipeline, which is to connect the south and north of the country. This was stated by the Minister of Petroleum Resources of Nigeria Timire Silva.
“The gas can pass to Algeria via the Trans-Saharan gas pipeline and then connect to the Algerian pipeline, after which we will deliver it to Europe. Thus, our gas can move from the south to the European market,” Silva said.
