Ukrainian citizens who are hiding from the Russian-Ukrainian war in the Crimea temporarily occupied by the Russian Federation are being confiscated by the occupation administrations of their Ukrainian passports. Instead of official documents, people are issued a certificate “for obtaining temporary asylum on the territory of Russia”, which has no legal force.
This was reported by the press service of the representative office of the President of Ukraine in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea on Facebook.
“After crossing the administrative border, people who have ended up in the temporarily occupied Crimea are forced to register with the so-called registration. When registering with the occupying “federal migration service” of Russia in Crimea, employees of these occupying bodies seize the passport of a citizen of Ukraine, and issue a so-called certificate” for obtaining temporary asylum on the territory of Russia,” the statement said.
