The Parliament has adopted amendments to the constitutional laws abolishing the life-long chairmanship of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev in the Security Council and the Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan, Kazinform correspondent reports
This draft Constitutional Law was submitted to the Mazhilis of the Parliament in accordance with the Decree of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated December 23, 2021. The bill was approved by the Mazhilis on January 19 this year and sent to the Senate with two adopted positions. The Senate unanimously passed these amendments. However, during the consideration of the bill in the Senate of the Parliament, another additional amendment was introduced. In particular, the Senate proposed to cancel Part 6 of Article 1 of the Constitutional Law “On the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan-Elbasy”, which provides for the coordination of the initiatives being developed in the main directions of the domestic and foreign policy of the state with the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan-Elbasy.
