Deputies of the Jogorku Kenesh at a meeting on September 29 approved Kubanychbek Bokontayev, deputy director of the Kyrgyz Lotto state-owned company, as the new chairman of the National Bank. His candidacy was proposed by President Sadyr Japarov.
Earlier, parliamentarians accepted the voluntary resignation of Tolkunbek Abdygulov from the post of head of the National Bank in connection with his transfer to another job.
People’s Deputy Samat Ismanov noted that the last time Bokontayev, as deputy director of Kyrgyz Lotto, reported on the unprofitability of the state company.
“How are you going to head the whole National Bank, if you have not coped with a small company,” asked the parliamentarian.
In response, Bokontayev said that “Kyrgyz Lotto” was before him and he was specially appointed there to solve these problems.
