The solution of the border issue between Armenia and Azerbaijan requires mutual compromises. This was stated by Russian President Vladimir Putin at a plenary meeting of the Valdai International Club on Thursday, writes TASS.
He also noted that Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, despite all the difficulties, showed political wisdom when they decided to stop the bloodshed in Karabakh.
“Still, despite all the tragedy of the current events, they managed to rise above the current political situation and make a very responsible decision. Still, President Aliyev and Prime Minister Pashinyan managed to stop the bloodshed. But even this is not the only point, Although nothing is more important than preserving human lives, it cannot be. Nevertheless, there are still important aspects, namely, it is necessary to create conditions for a long-term settlement in the region as a whole. These conditions can be created only if both sides accept the achieved agreements as long-term and on both sides will appreciate the benefits, I want to emphasize this, of peaceful coexistence. And everyone is interested in this,” Putin said.
