A consolidated plan for the development of the Northern Sea Route until 2035 must be approved, Russian President Vladimir Putin said at a meeting on the development of the Arctic. The government should take into account in the plan the task of long-term promising cargo traffic along the Northern Sea Route, quotes the words of the president of RIA Novosti.
“First of all, I consider it necessary to approve a consolidated plan for the development of the Northern Sea Route for the period up to 2035 in order to ensure the reliable and safe transportation of goods along this most important transport route,” – said Putin.
According to him, the government needs to draw up in this regard tasks for long-term prospective cargo traffic along the Northern Sea Route. At the same time, it is necessary to indicate specific investment projects and obligations of cargo senders in terms of volumes, as well as the size of the nomenclature, the required icebreaking fleet.
