Remittances to Uzbekistan rise 3% yr/yr to $1.47 bln in Q1-central bank
Remittances to Uzbekistan rose by 3 percent year-on-year to $1.47 billion in the first quarter of this year, the central bank said.
In the first three months of the year, the volume of purchases of foreign currency by individuals increased by 69 percent compared to 2021, amounting to $1.73 billion. Individuals sold currencies worth $2.11 billion in January-March, which is 38 percent or $585 million more compared to the same period in 2021.
In 2021, remittances to Uzbekistan amounted to $8.1 billion, up from $6.99 billion in 2020.
