The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov touched upon the invasion of the Azerbaijani armed forces on March 24 into the village of Parukh of the Republic of Artsakh, noting that Russian peacekeepers are studying all the circumstances of the incident. According to Armenpress, Lavrov said at a press conference on April 8 that he discussed this issue at a meeting with Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan.
“For us, these circumstances are not completely clear. I would not like to get ahead of myself and make final judgments. We are convinced that our Armenian friends fully trust Russian peacekeepers,” the Russian Foreign Minister stressed.
The head of the Russian Foreign Ministry expressed hope that the sounding calls to call the peacekeepers accountable and conduct an internal investigation do not reflect the attitude of the Armenian people and the Armenian leadership to the huge role that the contingent plays in maintaining stability. Small incidents happen, but the Russian side through the military understands, Lavrov added.
